About Your Instructor
Gordon Andrus is a respected leather artist, craftsman, and author with more than 50 years of experience in the trade. His journey began in the 1970s when his grandmother gifted him his grandfather's leatherworking tools, sparking a lifelong passion for the craft. After studying art and design at Utah State University and earning both BFA and MFA degrees, Gordon combined his artistic training with hands-on experience in saddlery, horsemanship, and traditional leatherwork.
Over the years, he has built saddles, managed historic carriage horse programs, and operated his own custom saddlery, Sage Creek Stock Saddle Co. Today, Gordon lives and works in Utah, where he continues to share his deep knowledge of leathercraft, design, and Western traditions with makers around the world.
